Something tells me this thing is supposed to be some kind of ancient superconductor. Whether or not it's an Ultra Beast is not known, but the hex nut choice leads me to believe that there are more of these akin to Zygarde Cells. I also think that all of them have a role similar to Unown where their presence is necessary for a greater force.
the data that was found in PoGO, this previously "unknown" pokemon was listed as #891 in the Dex system. Upon Nintendo's confirmation, it's been typed as Steel, and as a description, it's composed of a liquid metal (hence why it looks like Ditto) and can instantly corrode and absorb other metals for strength. As for the degisn, sure. It's a little weak, but Has anyone forgotten Voltorb/Electrode, Trubbish/Garbodor, Grimer/Muk?
"...and can instantly corrode and absorb other metals for strength."
So basically mercury and its reaction to elements like aluminum and gold. It's an assimilator.

Excuse the puns, but I think its simplicity coupled with its mythical status is going to be more than meets the eye. In fact, I think the real lore behind it is going to be a total mind screw. This thing is already driving people NUTS coming up with theories!
