Note- “half to death” (“Hangoroshi”) is a Japanese idiom that also means “to mash coarsely to make a rice cake chunky.”

Thanks. I'm not that familiar with that particular cooking terminology.

    Presenting Japanese Sweets!
This is what they call "ohagi". You take some rice, mash them halfway, then wrap then in a paste called 'anko', made by stewing azuki beans and sugar together.
Wha... What the devil is that!?
Ark Royal, you do realize I am looking for desserts that are fit even to be presented to Her Majesty, right?
Do you really think one can offer a dubious item such as this?
It is the done thing to eat this particular Japanese sweet during the autumn season.
    That black mound of... stuff!?
Well, I could have a taste, at least... perhaps this one of those delicacies that is peculiarly Japanese...
I take it you like it. Fabulous.
    nom   nom
    smile
    lawks!
Wh-What!? What a dessert this is, melding both exquisite taste with an inimitable mouthfeel!!
This is most fit to be an offering indeed!

"Mash them halfway"? What in blazes do you mean?
