It's hard to find giant filets of meat-- especially beef-- in Japan, isn't it? You often find meat diced small and mixed into things like curry or stir-fry.

Even if meat is prepared as whole like tonkatsu or some other western-style food, for convenience it's sliced into bite-size pieces. Fork and knife are basicaly used only in hi-end foreign restaurants in Japan and most of the times chopsticks are go-to eating tool so being served big piece of food is just awkward.

Damn, I do the same thing: eating while watching food shows. Since I'm on a keto diet, watching somebody eating cake or a pizza just make a placebo effect on me.
