    Quick and skillful black & white
    The flehmen response is a physical phenomenon that occurs in mammals such as cats and horses, in which they pull back their upper lip in response to an odor. This behavior aerates the vomeronasal organ (Jacobson's organ), an olfactory organ that primarily conducts pheremone reception, with a function of taking in even more odor particles, etc.

    From a biological standpoint there is absolutely no reason to do that. You do not have the little channels and chemicals that transfer scent and our reason to detect pheromones have completely vanished with evolution. If you feel you can smell odors better that way, it may be because manipulating the muscles in your lips, opens up your nasal cavity ever so slightly more.
