Stuff like this just reinforces my opinion on such matters; when writing, always remember, demon, angel, these are just races; not mindsets. You can just as easily have a nice demon as you could have a cruel angel.

Except in many settings they aren't. Yes, in Gabriel Dropout or Touhou or whatever, they're just people who happen to have horns or a halo, but many settings explicitly have them as alien creatures, or literally made up of specific emotions. (I.E. demons are literally made of evil and can only feel wrath because they are Demons of Wrath, and are physiologically incapable of any other emotion.)

This basically is what leads to people complaining that Lovecraft is never done right anymore, since people refuse to create or even consider alien beings that are anything other than humans with tentacles. When you make what's supposed to be incomprehensible not just comprehensible, but sympathetic, you've lost the whole point.
