It's my own custom fanart so I have the "elderkain" tag there also.

For copyright tags put copy: before them to make them purple, char: for characters, art: for artist and don't upload your own art.

so it's alright for people to upload other people's art but not your own... that sounds like bull to me...

Unfortunately, that's the unwritten rule here because the it's said that artist are the least capable of judging the quality of their own art so other people uploading their art would mean it's quality art. :/

@Quess: No it isn't a screencap copy. I do admit part of the face area's outline is drawn in the same style as a screencap, but a large part of the hand, dagger, and the top of the hair is completly custom drawn. Also the coloring/shading is totally different than the show. The colors are similar, but I had to come up with the color of the shades myself to make it similar to the shading on the show.

It's not a trace, becasue I actually re-drew everything while looking at the computer screen. Check the soyurce link out. I even have the plain Outline version & the sketch scan of it which i used to do the CG of it from.

Unfortunately, you are not the artist even if you don't copy directly by tracing.

I already did. That's why I found out that it's from a screencap. You're also not the artist since you just copied this. I also took a second look at your "work" and I like what you did the left ear.

it's designed like the screencap, but it's not exactly like it, if you look at the shading, there is a lot of differances, also even the hair design is different also. look at the bangs. Just because it's similar to a screencap, doesn't meen it's a trace, It's inspired by that screencap.

And it isn't tracing, becasue I didn't go over the pic exactly. If I did, the outline would of been exactly like the screenshot.

@memegui: lol, in a way all fanart is plagiarism, becasue it's use of a copyrighted character in an art piece. Only thing is that i'm not passing it off as mine alone, and i'm starting what character/anime it is. If I drew him, and called him a different name, then it would be plagiarism, lol

You might not be stating the character as your own, but you're still trying to deny that you copied an image already in existence. And just because you changed a few things here and there does not mean it's a completely new work of art.

I still think you should get rid of your name as an artist tag. You did not draw the original character. You vectored an image that was already drawn.

This thread is a good example of why we shouldn't let people upload their own art.
