    If Your Name had happened in Strangereal

    Spent the last few weeks trying to find time to draw this your name inspired artwork. With the holidays coming and more free time I'll be drawing much more often! In theory.

    The concept is nice but i doubt any planet based defense system would work. At best you'd get a cloud of debris that all burns up in the atmosphere. At worst, it all gets through the atmosphere anyway in the form of a rain of smaller meteorites. Instead of making one deep crater, you'd get a firestorm that impacts (and quite possibly depopulates) a much larger area.

    If you could blow it apart in deep space instead of low orbit, that'd be another matter.

    If I'm not mistaken that's what happens, some countries got off relatively scot free and others were devastated by the smaller fragments, leading to some of the conflict that drives the narrative.

    Y'know what's hilarious? That's canonically what actually happens behind the scenes leading up to Ace Combat 7. Another asteroid was found on it's way to Strangereal, and that's why Nagase was in space and returns at the end of the game, she was picked by Harling to lead the mission to destroy the asteroid in deep space before the world as a whole became aware of the new danger.
