She's a T-Doll right? Can't they just give her eyes? Hell what's the point of having that combat mode feature?

The feeling I get, at least with the english translation, is the world is in dire straits. Its outright said at one point that its unfortunate for a t-doll with distinct electronic warfare systems since the infrastructure she was meant to operate with/against no longer exists. On top of that, a lot of T-dolls are being repurposed from their original roles, and their systems often put into situations outside of their design, and being pushed beyond the limits of their design as well. So in her case, her optics outside of combat are damaged/disabled, so that when she is in a ready state, she can be brought online to full capability.

I'd imagine that for the most part, AK-12 has been through a rough time.

Actually, her in-game lines state that she can see through her eyelids. Having her eyes closed lowers processing needs, or something to that extent.

    Maybe her eyes get sensitive.

I assume that in this particular comic, this AK-12 has issues.

Having worked with produce, it's all bullshit. In fact, all these "tests" do is reduce the shelf-life.

You need to check the tail and, to be quite honest, colour of the watermelon. Old, withered tail? Good. A big yellow spot somewhere on the watermelon? Perfect.

Ah, and I usually buy straight from farmers. So there's that.

The spot is from where the watermelon sat on the ground. If it is white, it means it may have been picked too soon.

Also, weight. You don't need the biggest watermelon, but the heavier one of two similarly sized watermelons is usually the best.

I've heard that if the lines running down the watermelon are more solid, then it's ready.

    As stated by her artist.
'The eye lid of AK-12 does not actually effect ocular function, she constantly analyzes surrounding even with her eye lids sealed shut. The eye lids itself functions as an information filter, unneeded ocular information are ignored in order to save processing power. Upon entering combat stance her eyes will open, to counter act this increased load she will turn off emotion module, she relies purely on logical processes when combat intensifies.'
