Do they even need to? They're shipgirls, outside of maybe not having enough supplies to make the journey or maybe wanting to check that they aren't leaving anyone behind on the same island, what's even stopping them from just sailing away? (Besides, you know, the plot requiring it.)

She said in another page their gear was busted, which is why they're stuck.
