Obviously there can be no real harm in such a series, but it would be nice to have such stories tied up...

I think this is promotion for the book that will be sold on the Comiket, those books usually have their own arc. Presumably the one before will be continued after this.

Summary: When the temple starts taking large chunks of structural damage, many theories are floated but nothing is conclusive until they stumble into a schlock horror plot and find the jiang shi under the floorboards. Taoist/Buddhist antagonism ensues.

Cast: Most of the temple regulars, plus most of the mausoleum irregulars (though only Yoshika Miyako and Seiga Kaku get more than a panel).

Notables:

Yoshika's one of the diminutive cast, a bit smaller than Kyouko.

A terrified Kyouko makes for an excellent intruder alarm system.

Kyouko falls down and hurts her bum, awwww.

Seiga's wallhax aren't so impressive in a universe with literal ghosts.

Kyouko gets almost bitten, repeatedly. Unzan does get bitten, but is apparently zombie-biteproof.

Seiga and Yoshika's proud mom/loving daughter relationship is cute, even if it's being used for overt villainy.

The Taoists have had an aura of arrogance and superiority in this series. This continues when Seiga not only refuses to pay for Yoshika's damage, not only suggests it was premeditated, no only suggests robbing Buddhist grave markers for repair materials, but tells poor Kyouko a recipe for what appears to be Stir-Fry Yamabiko and Rice.

The final panel, payoff for a single panel of setup back in 4koma 13, which implies one hell of a fight is close to breaking out between the big cheeses of the two factions. Mama Byakuren don't like people eating her house.

Reading the story, that appears to be how you're supposed to feel. The mat is the final, no pun intended, straw. (Also, thanks for that fascinating link!)
