Gummitwist (Chinese jump rope)! My female classmates played it at elementary school back in 1968. They used simple elastic bands "borrowed" from their mother's sewing kit.
Oh damn, I love how Japanese recess time is not that different from those that I had when I was in elementary school. Even the menko (called tazos in a lot of Latinoamerican countries) and even the elastic cord game (that I never understood how to play).
