Oh. I feel dumb. It took me several passes over to realize there is no such thing as August 32nd, much less August 34th. So I guess she accidentally created a demiplane where August never ends and got punished for it. It seems like they just tickled her though, so it's fine.

I'm surprised they keep the door open at all, what with those entities always being outside.

It actually looks like she's laughing at something on TV. One can only speculate what sort of television shows these entities create, or why Raccoon seems to find them so entertaining.

I think that's just the door to their living room, and then the living room windows showing their balcony with the fence.

Own apartments were supposed to be safe zones, but Arai-san used a "weird" calendar that was given to her (not mentioned by who).

Only Arai-san was affected because she believed the calendar. She sliped into a separate reality after 31st, and it took Fennec until 34th to reach her.

Note that her speech bubbles in panel 4 had already started to warp, distort and "echo"- the visual effect reminds of nothing so much as how (Kancolle) Abyssal speech audio sounds (minus the whole katakana thing, I assume).

The Never-ending August is actually an reference to the Japanese game Boku no Natsuyasumi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boku_no_Natsuyasumi). This game is infamous for its' August 32rd Bug, which triggers when you saved the game file on the August 31st (the game's last scenario) and re-opened it again, you get to warp past the August 31st scenario and onto the 32rd scenario. From the 32rd onward, basically the game gets weird quickly and can only get weirder by each day, it is like Ben Drowned, Strangled Red, Lavender Town Syndrome and other Creepypasta games mixed together.

Also, if you played the game onto the Auguest 36th, then the game will become so buggy that the screen goes black, rendering the game file unplayable again. It is good thing that Fennec-san fetched Arai-san before then.
