    That's just a few infinite series' for pi. Infinite series' are required to approximate pi because the number of decimal places it has is infinite. 3 is not equal to pi and neither are 3.1, 3.14, or any other version of pi that doesn't have an infinite number of decimal places. Obviously we can't write out every decimal place so we need a way of approximating pi with a certain amount of accuracy. That's where infinite series comes in. Infinite series work by oscillating back and forth between being larger than and less than pi by a smaller and smaller amount until the series converges (otherwise known as reaching a "steady state") whereby the amount of difference between the series and actual pi is imperceptible. See here for a visual example.

    The final infinite series for pi, (the line after "How cute..."), is called the Chudnovsky Algorithm and is currently the quickest converging infinite series for pi, which means a computer can use it to approximate pi to the largest number of decimal places. It also means that while all the other series' are still oscillating, the Chudnovsky Algorithm has already reached it's steady state.

    Basically, the infinite series for pi was just having fun bouncing back and forth but then the Chudnovskys came around and forced it to stand still.
