.50 caliber weapons are fairly common nowadays aren't they? I know AI makes anti-material rifle of that caliber, plus scores of others. Now, the XM-109, there's an overkill.

not exactly,the armed forces are the primary customers for Barretts and even there they are'nt that common,I was in my thirteenth year of military service before I ever handled one(an M-107A1)

.50 handguns are nothing new or exciting and the property of anyone who wants one anywhere except california.

Similarly, .50 BMG rifles aren't particularly hard to get, but again at a price premium and even more absurd than the handguns.. Go to gungroker.com, put in .50 bmg and sort by highest to lowest.

The Barret is a heavy rifle that absorbs a lot of recoil. It's comparable to some shotguns.
