The gekkos were quite the letdown. I was expecting a "new metal gear" that would make Snake shake in his boots, maybe even one that can fly, instead of these easily subdued mecha who can even be "put to sleep" by shooting them in the right places in their legs with darts.

The thing about Gekko were that they were a "mass produced" model. Kind of like how Metal Gear RAY was a lot easier to defeat compared to REX. They became obsessed with quantity and forgot the quality issue. I guess making one weapon at a time that could devastate the world only for it to be taken out by one man before it could even make a single strike was just... stupid.

Yea, this way they have a Gear that can be used in modern day battle fields, and if one get's destroyed then you can just make another.

DISAGREEING THAT RAY WAS EASIER TO TAKE OUT! At the end of MGO2 there was the portion with the stinger missiles.... that was HELL on EARTH. seriously I nearly gave up on that game trying to beat those guys... three of 'em! and they could regenerate! >.< I kept running out of amo.

But that was because there were MANY Ray in that fight... as opposed to only one REX.

People have done similar things throughout history. And those mass-produced weapons are usually just inferior.

One solid Rex that actually could destroy entire countries with a railgun-loaded nuclear stealth missile, VS. a shit ton of aquatic Rays that didn't have as much Rex firepower.
