Nasi Kuning

Nasi kuning (Indonesian nasi kuning) is rice cooked with turmeric and coconut milk and is an Indonesian dish. Mandarin orange leaves and lemongrass are added for flavor. Nasi Kuning means "yellow rice". It is often eaten as a substitute for white rice, but it is similar to Japanese red rice and is often made for celebratory occasions. In Indonesian culture, the color yellow is a symbol of good luck and prosperity.
