There are only two reasons a laptop can no longer turn on.

    a) The mainboard is dead
    b) The power regulator board (old laptops) or chip has failed.

    (a) is not repairable, (b) is somewhat serviceable if the user doesn't mind opening up the laptop, identifying the correct contact points and then using a piece of metal to jumpstart the laptop by shorting these points every time, essentially bypassing the power button.

    I've had c) and dealt with d).
    c) was that the DC-power socket was worn and the battery just wouldn't charge anymore due to lack of contact on the sleeve.
    d) was that the power-brick just got fucked and needed to be replaced.

Issues that should be easy to check but never underestimate how few people know or can check that stuff.

And yes I do consider these to be big reasons since I've had them repeatedly, abeit on old or abused laptops.

    After the Fact
One day of one month, a call comes from Papa-gasa...
    You doing all right?
    Yep, I'm doing great.
Thing is, Kid-Sis-gasa's laptop's stopped powering on, it seems.
    Could you fix it, maybe?
No, look, you know I won't be able to tell without seeing it, right?
    Huh!?
    I thought you'd say that.
I already sent it to you.
    We got something delivered.
