I've heard the story, but I can't find it right now. More or less:
A group of travelers stop at an inn in the middle of the wilderness. When they are resting in their room, the innkeeper comes to ask if they would like [to be beaten] "half dead or all the way dead", and then leaves again while they discuss this. They are obviously quite spooked, thinking that they're about to be attacked and robbed by a bunch of thugs. At least in the version I've heard, they actually decide they'd rather be killed outright than crippled and left to die in the woods. Of course, when the innkeeper comes back, it turns out she was just asking how they wanted their food done, and they didn't understand the question because it was a local expression. I assume there might be other versions where the travelers hear the conversation through the wall or something instead.

Hirasaka Makoto
Hello. This is the one known as Hirasaka Makoto.
So, this was my first Shion book.
Originally I was thinking of making it about Shion alone, but in the end, I felt like drawing both her and Piece.
The whole ohagi pun here is a reference to an old story from my home region, but even though it's apparently quite famous, I actually didn't hear it until recently... (lol)
A story about food just made me think about recreating it with Shion, I guess.
Pretty much all the events lately have been canceled because of The Virus, so for now, this is getting released through bookstores only.
I hope this rare disaster will blow over as soon as possible, so I can see you all at the events again. Let's all just do our best for now!
Well then, hopefully my next book can be sold in person.
