Yep. That being said the pilot might be better off with the rx-79 given that it's ground operations in 0079. The rx-79 shrugs off physical ammunition a whole lot better than the Sniper II and there aren't exactly a lot of beam wielding Zeeks on Earth aside from the few Gelgoogs and amphibious types.
