Or I'll laugh if they view this as a finale and the following week kicks off a new chapter, Kantai Collection Tactics: Ship-Girls Don't Talk, depicting a battle against Mankind, who now advocate the disposal of all ship-girls following the destruction of the Abyssals in 2050.

Knowing this kind of artist is very hard he actually leaves, he is just going on a short hiatus and he will break it over and over again

From Google translate: it's the war between shipgirls and humankind after their victory against the Abyssal.

A new chapter, KanColle Collection Tactics, which depicts the battle with humankind who advocates the disposal of all ship daughters after destroying the deep-sea vessels in 2050 from the next week in a big circle, laughs when it starts. Yona

Considering his characters are psychopaths I presume the Soviet girls decided to try and nuke Washington now that the Abyssals are gone.
After all with the common foe Capitalism now can be smashed

    Time skip to 2050
The war with Abyssals is over
Humankind now wages war against shipgirls who have outlived their usefulness
    Old Professor Xavidomiral

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... Yeah no.
When this becomes a proper panel in a page, it's totally gonna be in Pinchy's imagination bubble, what with the geezer always yapping about the war going on for decades and shipgirls being less valuable than humans.

Ido loves teasing us with a panel that looks serious on its own, but when put in the context of the story that panel's in, it becomes hilarious as usual. Like this one. It looks serious but actually Vernyi is pushing back a mind-controlled Tashkent from "inspecting" the arse of a stuck Colo-chan. Not to mention the KuroKashima arc had two shipgirls sinking on-panel then get magically revived by fairies stored in their fundoshi, with a full shot of their butts and all.

But more importantly, take that rest, Ido-san. Don't overdo it.

Looking at the translated author note, that panel is indeed a joke making fun of the fact that people might think that his previous page might be the finale of his comics and then out of nowhere he pulls a surprise Darker and Edgier sequel set in the future with the shipgirls as fugitives that'll make everyone freak out.

People on Twitter look to be predicting that Pinchy joins up with the good guys in this scenario.

    Calling it now:
    (1) Pinchy joins the shipgirls.
    (2) Gets suspected of being a traitor.
    (3) Makes a heroic sacrifice to save Black Kashima/Katori.
    (4) Gets revived by Emergency Repair Fundoshi.
    (5) Reveals that the surgery to implant his arm also made him technically a shipgirl.

Realistically speaking, the military capabilities of shipgirls would make them too valuable to just get rid of even if humanity did fear their power. There's also the possibility of humanity reverting to pre-Abyssal War Geopolitics and using the shipgirls to fight each other rather than the Abyssals but that situation would be so one-sided as to be laughable. Of all the foreign shipgirl forces present in game, Britain, Germany, Australia, etc. the only ones that don't have a close alliance with the Japan IRL are the Russians and, to be quite frank, Russia has never been a naval power. The threat of the Abyssals would force the nations of the world to lift sanctions on Russia to get access to their vast oil reserves especially since the incredibly hostile ocean would force the massive re-shuffling of sea routes, i.e. Middle Eastern oil exports to Japan. I mean, just look at how much trouble the Japanese force went through in Summer 2017 just to make it half of the way.

With the Abyssals gone, hostility against Russia would almost immediately go back into place and since both sides still have nuclear weapons, well... we're mostly back to the status quo geopolitically. That is... if shipgirls aren't just as capable on land as on sea in which case the balance of power would tip heavily against Russia. However, that is nothing compared to how badly China would be shafted by the Abyssal War. China has been trying to build itself up as a naval power to counter its enemies so with the Abyssal War completely gutting their naval forces, they may end up to whatever measures possible to regain their naval capabilities, some of which may be rather extreme. Of course, the nations of the world may end up trying to develop more capable anti-shipgirl weapons even before the war ends which may lead to a massive reset of naval forces where everyone has to rebuild basically from scratch but I'd rather not go down that rabbit hole.

Well, if we were going down more historical routes, the US would be the dominant naval power and the UK would be close second.

That's if the British don't have to hand over some of their forces to the Indians in order to protect their interests.

Realistically, wouldn't the countries with powerful shipgirls allocate resources to make more of said shipgirls instead of wasting those resources on weaker girls? We know dupes exist in Idoverse.

It's also possible that countries with only relatively weak shipgirls like Russia might try to compensate with numbers, e.g. a "Gangut" might not be a match for an "Iowa", but six "Ganguts" versus one "Iowa" might go the other way.

But we dont know how they're created. Some aspects of Ido-verse are contradictory, with some shipgirls having a childhood past where their appearance clearly has been like that from the start, but dupes exist who look exactly like each other. Of course it's a comedic series so we don't expect consistency there, but it's a problem if you want to apply logic and base a notion of realism to it then.

She'll be the third museum ship in KanColle, after Iowa and Intrepid, and I'm guessing one of the only surviving IJN ships that participated in WWII.

(I should probably point out that, according to Wikipedia, Soya was never actually delivered to the Soviets, and has always been operated by Japan).

Sōya was built in the USSR, and then transferred to Japan. Like the Kongo.

Thought it was the other way around (kinda). Built and launched in Japan (at Nagasaki), intended for the USSR, but Russo-Japanese relations worsened before she could be delivered so she wound up being a Japanese civilian freighter, then later requisitioned by the IJN.

Maybe you're confusing her for Varyag, which was also renamed Souya after the IJN salvaged her.

No, I'm confused myself. Sōya was built for the USSR, but in Japan. But after the construction, Japan took the ship for itself.
But Ido could make a connection with the USSR. Like Kamoi and Hokkaido.
