And the usual kind of alcohol used in so-called "rubbing alcohol" is isopropanol, anyway - not ethanol.

She's using it as a disinfection. Medical ethanol isn't denaturated, so it's fine to drink. Technical ethanol for cleaning, heating etc. is different.

actually, no. some areas, mixes ethanol with other chemical to avoid alcohol tax. It may not be harmful to your skin, but it's harmful if swallowed...

Ethanol for any purpose (be it in chemical labs, disinfection, heating, etc) are usually mixed with a small proportion of methanol and other alcohols. Why? SO THAT WHAT SUIKA IS DOING RIGHT NOW IS PREVENTED.

By the way, methanol causes blindness in mediocre quantities and death in a single sip. Gotta wonder how it works for an oni. But again, Suika has access to an infinite gourd of alcohol and yet she doesn't die of cirrhosis so I guess she might be fine.

Fun fact, in the soviet union, there have been a couple of cases of there being things using pure ethanol to work, and the people in charge having a hard time keeping it from being imbibed and/or stolen by workers, since it’s basically strong vodka. Their space program for a while use pure ethanol as rocket fuel, and one of their jets used pure ethanol as a coolant.
