Why would you use a mid-range plane during the mission before this one? It seems logical for them not to be flying F-14s.

F-22 have XMAA , which is quite useful to toss at enemy squadrons that appear , and higher mobility for the bigger part of the mission .

The Falken TLS can take out half squadron that appear in one pass if you lucky. The TLS make quick work of the SOLG. Just aim and watch as the SOLG falls apart.

I rock the whole game in F-14Ds most the time. Because the SP paint job is sexy.

A key point about this mission is that the player is using a plane they chose a few missions back as it's the last plane they can take from a sinking carrier. Even 'I' was guilty of taking the F-22 out since it's nearly the one time most can take it out, and since it was a long range air-air and air-surface you need to make the ship choice based on that alone. Then when the satelite falls, you're stuck with the plane you had, sitting and taking off from a highway in the city.

I'm also guilty of then replaying the missions a second time on a F-14. Who DOESN'T love that plane?!

In my first play through I finished the game with a team of F-14As (admittedly on normal difficulty).
