Because they had a lapse in judgment in thinking that CLAMP were perfect to give Jin his 'evil badass' outfit. It's so freakin out of his character and just plain retardedly outta place. It has to be a pain in the ass to render...
Granted, Tekken isn't the haven for excellent costume designs but this outfit belongs in the Soul Caliber/Code Geass universe....
Personally I sorta agree with the rest of you actually. Now, I like CLAMP and I like this desgin but it still seems a bit too regal for a hand to hand martial arts game. Even so, I'd like a PVC figure of it.
Definitely not something that looks easy to move into, let alone transform or summon his evil side, if he still has the ability to do that at least, If past fighting games experiences tell me anything, Capes are usually a "boss" symbol

LOL! I agree actually, if this was only a PVC and not an actual playable costume.
This design is so lazy, it reeks of slapped together/stock like a rejected Code Geass character. It's almost like CLAMP just took the scraps and threw them to BanNam and because EVERYONE in the world is so in love with whatever crap CLAMP shoots out...they approved.
It's garbage and the fact that BanNam cosigned this outfit instead of going to another artist is disappointing. They really could've gone Tite Kubo or anybody else...instead they went to CLAMP and this is what they effin got.
Minus the fact that it goes against character, it looks cumbersome and needless. Granted, female characters for years have worn bizarre/tacky outfits for years...in short, this outfit sums up EVERYTHING wrong with Tekken 6. Overdone, cluttered, pointless and a out of date and as a Tekken fan....that hurts saying that.

So yeah, about that... he was a brooding fag in the first place. At least in this part they gave him a interesting role - compared to what he was doing in the previous parts.
And while I don't like CLAMP, the costume is actually quite awesome.
Jin is and has been my character for a very long time.
That said, character-wise, he has quite a few parallels to Sasuke's 14 year old personality (devil form, chidori, emo hair, and that ridiculously feminine face he always scrunches into a grimace in order to assure what's left of his masculinity) - so this costume, while random, didn't have me frothing at the mouth. It's actually kinda fitting.
There's only so far you can go with karate-gi, hoodies and flaming pants.
Finally, that lion's head... is actually kinda cool.
