For those who are not familiar, the medal on the lower left is the Victoria Cross (VC for short), the highest military honor awarded in the United Kingdom and various other Commonwealth countries. Officially, it is awarded for "most conspicuous bravery, or some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice, or extreme devotion to duty in the presence of the enemy" and is often personally presented by the King or Queen of Great Britain.
1 of 4 ordered to be built for WW1 and the only one finished after the Battle of Jutland revealed major flaws in the design resulting in major changes in her build that took 4 additional years to finish and resulted in the other 3 being canceled in favor of a proper new design utilizing lessons learned.
