I always found Minami's version of Ruko sort of strange in that regard. Ruko is explained to have a very deredere personality on her official wiki, and usually seems to be portrayed as fairly open and affectionate. (...of course, if we're going to be accurate here, 5'3" Haku shouldn't be nearly eye level with 6'5" Ruko, either.)
Anyway, it's cute, all the same. Ruko's smile is very charming.

Ahh, sorry to keep pointing things out, but... the hermaphrodite thing is indeed official. (Well, as official as a character intended to trick people can be.) She is listed as a hermaphrodite in her "official" profile on the wiki.
Now, you have to keep in mind that she was made by 2ch VIPPERs. They're the same folks that said Teto was 31 .... and also a chimera. (They also tried to pass the absurdly tall and busty Ruko off as being 12 originally.) They're obviously pretty fond of giving ridiculous gag information. The whole idea was likely founded on her having two voice banks.
However, regardless of 2ch's depiction, because her appearance has a strong slant towards one gender over the other (as opposed to the other hermaphrodite character, Taya, who is intentionally androgynous) she's most often regarded and portrayed as being completely female by fans.
My understanding is that 2ch implied she was a hermaphrodite due to the huskiness of the original program's voice, and this was still speculation; despite her creation still being a joke character the 2ch community still has its standards towards general character traits (a la Rin's affection for a steamroller, etc). In the "official fanon" (Which in itself, is a gray area) she is still regarded as a female, without the revelation that she is or not truly one. So I disagree that it's official.
