I can't believe somebody tried to make this harmless, ineffectual boss look cool. It's a skeleton on a rowboat whose name is TIBIA FUCKING MARINER. He is the funniest shit I have ever seen From put out and I busted my gut laughing when I first saw him. Also, he attacks by splashing some majick water at you or by smacking you with his oar horn or by doing sick water drifts with his boat. Sure, sometimes he does cool shit like summoning huge skeleton that shoots laser at you, if he is actually survive that long. An average encounter with the Mariner is finding him boating in the middle of nowhere, smacking him for a good minute or two, then collect your deathroot. He is and I daresay, the successor to Pinwheel.
Pinwheel had lore, its own cinematic and it comes after a hard zone, that's why its difficulty was always so disappointing. But this is just an optional field boss which was never meant to be interesting.
What do you mean? The first time you suppose to meet the Mariner there's an NPC telling you "Oh don't go there, there are undeads and you will die". Then after you beat the Mariner they go all "You are dumb but yo that's sick. Here's a teleporter you can use to meet my furry friend". He at least has some build up when you meet him the first time.

Only thing people remember pinwheel for is it being an absolute meme and the Dad mask. Tibia Mariner is actually interesting design-wise, and the one in the snow region is actually challenging if only in the "actually finding this fucker" department.
And killing them gives you access to some of the coolest shits in the game.
