I guess tired of tractors stealing their tanks (/s), apparently the Russian military is now stealing tractors and other farm equipment. In some cases loading them up on military flatbed tracks and hauling them back to Russia. In one case they looted a John Deere dealership, and since the vehicles have remote access and GPS the whole 700 mile journey as they were hauled to Chechnya was monitored. Although unfortunately for them, they're now having to figure out how to disable the security on the vehicles since they were remotely disabled and can't be turned on.

I swear, nothing owns the orcs harder than they own themselves.

Ukraine was a major grain producer, but they probably won't be able to grow much this year due to the war, and it won't help if the Russians are taking agricultural equipment like tractors from Ukraine.

Ukraine I have heard described as the world's breadbasket. They were one of the largest exporters of wheat, corn, and sunflower oil. Half of the wheat used by the UN's World Food Programme came from Ukraine. It is expected now worldwide food price increases and shortages, and the countries already having food problems will probably be hit the hardest.

If there's one thing fun about living in a cyberpunk dystopia, it's using corporate IT tools to fuck with people.

Except nowadays it can just as easily be the corporations screwing with everyone else. Those tools go both ways, and there are plenty of hackers out there that'll happily wreck everyone else's lives just for Gits & Shiggles.

It's all fun and games until you find out YOU can get screwed over twice as easily, especially when the rest of us have no idea who has their finger on that long-range "OFF" button.

Even when the Soviet Union existed they made their own personal computer clones. It's not like they can't just remove anything it makes them stop working and put on their own hardware. Excluding the terrible situation, I would be more worried about how greedy corporations has become they decide the fate of your goods with a "security update".

Or worse. Remember how Target's customer database got hacked years ago and a lot of people's credit card info got compromised?

Imagine some hacker(s) crack into John Deere's customer database, shuts down most (if not ALL) tractors with remote access, then scrambles the database with ransomware and demands millions in BitCoin for the encryption key.

Or just locks down all of those vehicles and then DELETES the database so that NONE of the vehicles can be reactivated.
