lol, The real touhou games should have changing artwork to go with the difficulty. Playing on lunatic mode should result in EX forms for all characters.
It'd probably be a strain on ZUN artwise though, even if it were only two sets. I can understand the heroines' art changing from game to game, but that's over the course of several years' experience. To go from 10-16 drawings to 20-32 in about the same amount of time (if I had to guess, I'd say a month or two) is a daunting task and would likely result in a loss of quality just as he's starting to improve.
As much as I'd love to see it happen, I doubt it will.

I think ZUN have enough trouble with people making fun of his normal art already and don't want anymore trouble, especially from the image/meme boards.
Also, the pictures hardly come out much except for like...boss battles and end. Not much point in changing and not much point in getting people to make fun of you even more.

Are you for real? Then what the heck are all those hate mail and stuff I heard about? I was pretty sure alot of people made fun of his art and a decent amount hates it. Also, how do you appreciate stuff for being not very high quality? Cuase that sounds hilarious.
he's a programmer and composer firsthand (well, a drunkard firsthand, and those secondhand). he does it for himself in the Touhou games, and he does it in his job for TAITO. you shouldn't expect him to be a perfect artist on top of that, but some people just can't be pleased
i kind of like the style he uses for the drawings. Is it that great? not compared to some people, but its a hell of a lot better than I can do in the same occupation.
ZUN's style may not be as pleasing to the eye as say, Tasofro's work (whoever the artist is who does the fighting game artworks), but if nothing else, it's distinctive. At least he's not drawing like, say, Walfas.
And I would cut him a little slack. He is just a one-man team; what he does now is an admirable endeavor.

He's not just one man! He has all those girls and beers with him! He's like; "THE" man.
Honestly, to all those "Haters" they really need to lighten up. As said before, Zun's art is an aquired taste. I honestly like Zun's artwork. I myself could draw better than Zun, but i probably couldnt mimic it. Its also become like his calling card. When i see it, i can go "Yup, ZUN drew that".
Personally, I think ZUN is a great "designer", though not such a great artist. I can accept that. Plenty of fashion designers and architects who could put together a dress or a house to save their lives, yet they are famous and get paid really well. What sells me on ZUN is his incredible character designs. If I want great artwork of the characters I'll just wait for fans to draw said artwork!
