Wait, how do you make Chai tea with cooking spices?
Chai tea is basically spiced black tea. Black tea leaves, sugar, water, milk... then add a bunch of (Indian) spices on top during the brew. Usually these are 'sweet' and warming spices like cardamom, cinnamon, star anise, and fennel. And even some spicy/warming ones added like black pepper and ginger. And nutmeg. Or some other stuff, depending on who's making it.
Western packaged preparations tend to heavily use cassia ('fake' discount cinnamon), with lighter notes of other spices (if any).
