You didnt play the visual novel have you? UBW route is practically called Shirous route instead of Rin's route sometimes.
Shirou is not important in seelling the FSN franchise. In fact lots of people who like the girls and the story hate Shirou. So, it makes sense he's not too prominent in all the posters. Although fortunately he's a lot better in UBW than Fate.
I cannot say that's correct to the whole extent. Shirou, with his powers, was meant to be a creator not a fighter. I still prefer the Shirou who was yet to discover all those things and not the Shirou who found out too soon about all this. One's future must not be revealed for then it may be changed. That's how I see Unlimited Bladeworks. In the moment Shirou's own UBW chant differed from Archer's, he would never become him, and thus the future is changed. On a side note, I don't believe they'll dare to give UBW True End as the ending of this film. Also if they only think about giving Archer the ending from the "last episode" from Realta Nua, I'll be cursing them for all eternity. Archer stopped pursuing in mid-way, so his part of the miracle is not completed.
Well, time travel is a bitch. Archer should have known that lawl. I'm kinda a "purest" so i never watched the anime and dont plan to watch the movies. Though i did find it funny when i think about which path they were going to choose.

Are you saying that you don't like the UBW Shirou who fights alot then the other two shirou's? (I don't care if he not a fighter, he still kickass when he fight the servent)
I don't see why they won't do with the movies what they did for the TV show: Mix a little of each route together. If you stick to one religiously, you risk alienating fans. I haven't played past UBW yet (A little hesitant to, given my love of Saber and Rin), but choosing to go with HF may appease Rider fans, but what about fans of Lancer, Archer, Saber, and Rin? If you go with UBW, what about Illya and Sakura's fans?
There are too many characters that have large fan bases who want their character to be prominent. It just seems to me that choosing them all is the most logical step.
@Iuan: Shirou fights a lot in all of these. Kicks ass or not, I still prefer the "poor idealist" Shirou over "xerox mashine" Shirou or "action figure with retractable parts" Shirou. My words are harsh and I mean them to be harsh. "Fate" Shirou operates with the strongets powers he's capable of using ALL BY HIMSELF. Even though he couldn't use them to their full extent, he still could use them quite effectively. Not to mention that it was HIM that was the main advantage in fighting both Berserker and Gilgamesh. @BakaHoushi: I agree with you. Completely.
@BakaHoushi: I disagree with you. When you try to please everybody, you end up pleasing nobody. I'm not saying the TV anime was poorly constructed even if it did have some disjointed elements, but the UBW movie would be best pure. One movie is too short for trying to mix and combine things anyway. They will have troubles just trying to have all the essential scenes in as it is. Besides, no fan would be happy with half-assed results, even if it did mean a little more screentime.

Because they're three entirely different routes. It's bad enough trying to fit *One* route into a 90-minute film, let alone three.
And, the anime really didn't do that anyway. As a Sakura fan, I felt that the anime pretty much entirely ignored her. There is one tiny arc about her, and it doesn't even actually solve any of her problems (other than maybe the fact that she's estranged from her biological sister). At the end of the anime, she's not with Shirou, and she's still stuck with Zouken. The Sakura and Archer bits of the anime were mainly there to explain to people who hadn't played the game a bit more of the background, not to appease Sakura or Archer fans.

If you don't, you end up with a mess. The three routes (especially HF) are totally incompatible with each other. And, really, sorting out the mess Sakura is in requires pretty much a route to itself, given how hard Zouken is to kill. And, even if you get rid of him, Rin running off to London with Shirou = bad end for Sakura, really.

You should play it. Yeah, Saber gets a bit screwed, but you find out about Sakura, and her story. Really, Saber isn't the only character that matters.
Rin comes out of HF reasonably well, actually (at the end, anyway). Saber, well, doesn't....
I don't see why doing HF would alienate Rin fans, at least not any more than any route which doesn't ship Shirou and Sakura would alienate Sakura fans, or any route that doesn't ship Saber with Shirou would alienate Saber fans.

And Rider's. But, yeah, basically, every route ignores some characters almost totally. Ilya is ignored in UBW, Rider is largely ignored in Fate and UBW (and is a bad guy), Sakura is largely ignored in Fate and UBW too (and gets some tacked-on arc in the anime that doesn't actually give her any real character development, or solve any of her problems). Archer is largely ignored in Fate, and to some extent in HF, and Saber is not exactly well-treated (although she'a not ignored) in HF.

Except that you can't. Especially not in a 90 minute movie. In the end, apart from anything else, Shirou can only end up with one girl. Whichever one you choose is going to alienate fans of the other two. I'd like to see you write a script which made actual sense and satisfied fans of all the main characters. Most likely, you'd end up doing neither.

Looks fine to me. And while i cant speak for all Fate fans. I would rather have a movie make sense than to see my favorite girls get screen time. Rin and Illya are my top 2, but if i dont see them, then the damn movie better pick 1 route and stick with it.
Only in the good end of UBW. And, the UBW ends totally screw Sakura over, because the only people who care about her are moving to London. And, Rider and Ilya are both dead, so....
Yeah, but Zouken is almost certainly still alive, and the only people who truly care about her are gone. Shinji is only really an irritation for Sakura anyway, compared to what Zouken does to her. Him being nice to her doesn't solve the bigger problem.
