The series so far is marvellous and beautiful; although it really doesn't resolve a lot of questions. Like why did the first set end with the [ exploited to some extent since she lived in poverty whilst helping everybody ] child; and then in the second set start with her seemingly being recruited as environmental angel by an Inspector ( possibly God ). Why not the other way around ? Artistically it was good to begin with her delightful cheering up of everybody, but it really should have been linked by an explanation of 'this is how she got into this' prefacing the second set.

And how did she get food etc. ? one cannot rely on random private charity. Generally somebody would insist on her going to school: at the very least because didacticism is a ruling impulse in the human race.

As to her living alone, postulating that she would be allowed to have a hut of her own, without it being stolen ---- even if she had legal ownership --- by property developer scum; one may allow that as romantic wish-fulfilment, which is certainly legitimate, is again terribly uncertain. Although, regardless of social or government benign or malign intent not that different from the wretched lives of most of the poor before the 20th century.

From last year, I recall Kotaro Lives Alone --- the Netflix version, which is all I saw --- implying many small children do survive by themselves in Japanese culture. In other countries such as the Russias, this mostly happened due to upheaval and revolutions.

The problem that in Anglo countries at least, government [ and private agencies' ] social workers // with the obligatory 'well-meaning'' added // will have definite sterile views for living which however adequate, provide a less attractive life to the feral wildings ( or anyone really ). Who wants to live in a clean minimalist concrete cube building with no individualistic possessions, and only socially permitted amusements ?

One can only hope her life shall continuously improves. To very Heaven if possible.
