Why do people think Rukkhadevata became Kusanali based on that one cutscene alone?

Yes but that cutscene did not happen 500 years ago (where Rulkhadevata was supposed to die)

King Deshret's death took place way earlier, way before 500 years ago

Now, I still believe Rukkhadevata became Kusanali, but that cutscene can't be used as evidence

Rukhadevata/Kusanali has the same constitution as Aranara but different from Guoba: using too much power will make them lose memories, BUT in Kusanali's case she can regain that power by simply living.

Also, you forgot one thing: Rukhadevata erected Wall of Samiel, something that didn't get depicted in that cutscene. We know that while King Deshret was actually a good man that did something wrong and ended up screwing up his own country, there's a significant time lag before the curse took place, AND Deshret has left GENERATIONS of descendant that rules as kings before he ended up sacrificing himself to stop the curse.

Your point being? I dunno what relevance is there about what you said to what I said

And we don't know yet the real reason Wall of Samiel was made

I understand your confusion because I am confused about the timeline too.
From what I understand, the cutscene describes two different events:
    1. King Deshret's unleashing of the forbidden knowledge, Rukkhadevata and the preists building the temples and King Deshret's sacrifice
    2. The Cataclysm where Rukkhadevata used up her powers and turned into a child/Nahida
There should be a few hundred years between these events, so either the narrator lived that long or he died during the Cataclysm and just heard about the sacrifice from stories or he died long before the Cataclysm and saw Rukkhadevata/Nahida in a vision that will happen in the future.

I might be totally wrong, though. It's just really confusing.

People are misunderstanding the FMV. The Magi simply remembered the time that Rukhadevata used too much of her power and turned small.

But if you watched the cutscene in slow motion, you can see Rukha created a seed, which blooms into a younger form of her. Nahida and Rukha was never a same person; as the sun and the moon are different planetary bodies.
