I can see it now... I rush out and beat people down to buy the new copy of "Rockman: Towards the Future" with Rockman's new bad-ass looks, classic yet improved gameplay, and insanely challenging stages with 10 difficulty settings! And when I finally start playing and the first dialoge scene with Rockman comes up to my horror his voice complete opposite of his new bad-ass look! And what really kicks me in nuts is I can't turn off the voices in the audio settings! That's how it would turn out! Mark my words!

Sadly, "Mega Man Xtreme" and "Mega Man Xtreme 2" already exist and are the English-language versions of "Rockman X: Cybermission" and "Rockman X2: Soul Eraser".

Then I'd insist you feel like shit for not buying the Japanese version, with Suwabe Junichi voicing Rockman instead of some unmanly american voice-actor.

Honestly I think X should be the one that looks adult while Rock would look more late teens (rather than early teens or even like some kind of 10 year old or younger). That way there's more distinction between the two, and at the same time you avoid either the childishness or the rather disturbing prospect of having a little kid being Rockman.

while I like some of the hardware components I think overall it looks to rigid in the upper body. Which once again is more fitting for X, but I think the legs look fine and I do like the idea of the buster arm shifting appearance depending on what weapon he is using, and it not do some kind of glow/shift or other cheap method like that, and instead be a more physical shifting around of parts.

However, lets face it, this picture of Rock only needs a colour swap of his forehead crystal on his helmet to Red and he's X. And tbh, it looks like ledjoker07 had been playing a bit too much Starcrat II when he designed this armour.

I would prefer it be called "Rockman Rebuilt" or something along those lines, and while it should have an emphasis on realism and character development (Maybe basing some of the character motivations described in the songs by "The Megas"), it should actively avoid going too much into the "darker and edgier" direction and keep the more "world of tomorrow" bright futuristic look of the original. It should NOT turn into some sort of apocalyptic Cyberpunk, at least not until X and such where it makes more sense to do so, but even then it should refrain from going full Blade Runner or something.

Heavy Industrial stuff etc is okay in certain settings, such as Metal Man and the like, but all in all it should keep the optimism of the original, just more realistic and have some darkness to it, but not dwell on it to the point of wangst.

Problem with stuff that try to go "more realistic" and/or "darker and edgier" is that all too often they confuse the first for the latter or don't even care about the first at all. As a result they lose the optimism and heart that the original. True art covers the entire spectrum. One that focuses too much on light hearted Optimisim is no less absurd than a dark, emo crapsack killfest.
