Kinda applies to dogs as well. IIRC, they have more developed facial muscles pretty much because of their long association with humans.
But animals like wolves are also very good at expressing themselves via body language and looks. So you could probably get a read on him via that. Considering his posture, I think he might just be pretty formal by nature. Though ofc the next image pannel (whenever that is finished) might prove me wrong.

Yup. Dogs basically just have the ability for more facial expression because it's beneficial when dealing with humans, and so dogs that could make more noticeable facial expressions where selected for.
