In plant terms, they are; Though unlike us, plants are capable of assexual reproduction (which is the case for Nahida) and are easily made into hybrids (grafting?). Also kinda fitting to compare with Kunikuzushi as he's also somewhat of a clone of Ei (though heavily modified for unknown reasons).
Grafting is more akin to creating Frankenstein's Monster than it is hybridization. The genetics of the graft and host do not mix. Indeed, it might not be quite as useful if they did- it's not uncommon for one variety to be used for root stock and the other for the actual fruiting part. I have a few apple trees where this is the exact case, and the scar of the graft is still pretty clear as it bisects the trunk.

That's quite interesting. Case still remains for easily hybridization (citruses being a good example), but nice to not be ignorant on what grafting really means.
