From a glance I thought it was actually ketchup, not sure if blood is worse or not.

as an italian i strongly effing disagree as hell

Pizza already has tomato sauce in it, which give the just balance of sweetness and acidity, that mix well with the mozzarella and the dought flavor

putting ketchup is killing it in acidity. it's a grave crime on pizza: try that in a restaurant in italy and you'll get rocketed out

I've put ketchup on pizza before, but it's specifically in the case of like, garbage-tier pizza. Off-brand frozen pizza style stuff that is just inedible otherwise.

That's fair. I guess school cafeteria pizza would classify as bottom-tier pizza, too. Never thought of it that way.

Wait until you heard what my asian friend did...

He dipped pisang goreng (basically breaded deep fried banana/plaintain, depending on the country) into sambal terasi (pounded raw chili with red onion, garlic and fermented shrimp paste), and eat it like it's the best thing in the world.

This ain’t nothing. When my sister was a kid, she would smother her rice in ketchup, calling it “volcano rice”

To me it depends on which kind of banana and flour used in the fried banana. The banana ranges from the usual sweeter table bananas to firmer, more starchy plantain varieties; the flour run the gamut of taste (added sugar or salt, spices, or any mix in between) and flour kinds (mixed or not). The starchier + more savory flour mix combo tend to fit better with savory sauces like kecap, pecel-style peanut sauce, or sambal.

There is nothing wrong with putting ketchup on pizza! People have the right to eat pizza however way they want! STOP TALKING LIKE YOU OWN THE RIGHT TO PIZZA AND TELL PEOPLE WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!!!

crucify it is. cookies are on the same vein with ice cream, sweet sides which is extremely incompatible with a ketchup (for savory sides, or even downright salty stuff).

I would go so far as to say it also depends on if the plantains were green or ripe. Green plantains are much starchier, with little sweetness once fried. Slice and squish them before frying and they can come out almost like a biscuit or chips, and work great with salt. A ripe plantain, however, will come out quite sweet and soft after the frying, though still somewhat firm. An overripe plantain will barely be able to hold its shape, and will be extremely sweet and soft after the frying. I would think the first would be the best bet for that combo.

Some cultures are weirdly, almost pathologically overprotective of their cuisine. Like, I've never seen a Mexican person berate anyone for putting ketchup on an enchilada, or an Indian person get judgemental about ketchup on curry. But admit on the internet that you put unauthorized toppings on a pizza or break your spaghetti before boiling it, and someone's bound to come ranting about their nonna rolling in her grave because you disrespected a sacred dish.

If you want to see another group of people being similarly insufferable, try telling a Texan that their chili recipe would be better if it had beans in it.

Hawaiian pizza is eaten with ketchup and hot sauce, what are you talking about? If you travel for vacation to Mexico and order a pizza at Domino's, Pizza Hut or Little Caesar's those are exactly the sauce packets that come with it. And don't forget the soy sauce.

EDIT: Besides "The Mentalist" taught me people who berate ketchup on pizza are potential homicide makers.

Are Texans really that particular about their chili?

Some are. I lived there for 30 years. The majority don't give a shit what other people put in their food, because they are sane, and sane people tend to be accepting of others' food preferences. But I've personally encountered several of the unhinged ones who insist that the state dish has to be prepared one specific way, and that any deviation is sacrilege. They'd probably have an aneurysm if they knew my mother thickens her chili with a few tablespoons of oatmeal.

lower actually, that is awful pizza, there is ananas pizza (you lose citizenship if you like this shit as an italian), there is garbage pizza, there is litteral garbage, and then, there is school cafetteria pizza (tho it could be just personal experience, the food provider was awful in my school, heck there were brick piece in the pasta some times)

While I'm sure at least part of it is trolling, she may also be doing it so she can eat her cookies in peace. One of my grandfathers use to fix some of his food with spices and ingredients he knew my grandmother and cousins didn't like because he wouldn't get any otherwise. Gwenpa in the previous strips ended up giving most of his cookies away, and we've seen that Warfarin can sometimes secretly be just as soft.

To be fair, it tastes better than you think.
