Another war in the Pokemon World happened and the trainers were conscripted into the armies of their home countries. Many came back home, many, pokemon and trainers alike, didn't. Satoshi died in the war, leaving his beloved friend Pikachu to mourn for him. Too bad that happens in RL, too, just with people and not with pokemon and trainers.
