Everything in nature from bacteria to animals all seem to have some variation that is a pest/disgusting/dangerous and then others that are helpful/cute/harmless. I never even knew about those different species of cockroaches, I guess it really is just like how lots of people hate spiders or fear dangerous bacteria and then comes along the cute jumping spider and the helpful Rhizobium bacteria.
Pretty sure if you put them in a house (and not in a cage) where someone doesn't expect it, said person would still freak out. That being said, yeah they look fashionable out in nature.
