I think she started off as the anti-GG antagonist character, but ever since the whole Gamergate thing died off she's more been used to represent 'normie' gamers. You know I honestly can't back that claim up with any numbers since A) I don't know the sales figures and B) if I did, how in the goddamned hell would I be able to tell who of those purchases are trans people.

She said a woman is a woman, and that trans-women will not be allowed in her women's support facilities, after citing statistics that show an inordinate amount of sexual abuse offenders like to call Trans to get lighter sentences or allowed into women's prisons, where surprise, they performed sexual battery on the women there. This has resulted in most of the trans community baying for her blood, people openly threatening her life, a successful trans woman horror writer making a book where JKR is the leader of a Tran hunting squad of TERFs and is graphically immolated for her existence.

Really, the long and short of it is that JK Rowling is hated for making herself into the centrist, palatable figurehead of the UK anti-trans movement, which is frankly pretty insane on Twitter in its own right. It's not really one or two things, but a constant outrage cycle, and she just so happens to be the most visible person there. (As well as someone who's been adjacent to "nerdy" stuff for a long time, so you'll see even more of her than the average suit.)
For instance, since it's been brought up a few times: Why did JK feel the need to create a women's shelter that specifically excluded trans women? Because Twitter activists were angry that they couldn't harass the transgender CEO Mridul Wadhwa into being blackballed from rape crisis services on the basis of her gender, and subsequently found out that most women's shelters in the UK include trans women. It was a very nasty event that forcibly closed the Edinburgh center for several days, likely depriving numerous women of shelter. Was this outrage in response to a genuine safety threat? If it was, no one was actually talking about any abuse incidents. But if you start making up reasons to harass people, and enough huge influencers approve, eventually people will start believing it. Rinse and repeat for a few years, and you've got an increasingly toxic environment that's bound to generate all sorts of garbage.
So yeah, at the end of the day, I'm sure a lot of people come on here to avoid Twitter harassers, but that goes for all sides. The "no hate speech" rule is here for a good reason.

People can read your previous comments, man. They can also fact-check your claims. Gender dysphoria wasn't removed from the DSM, much less "silently". Professionals came to the conclusion that destigmatizing transgender people in the same way as homosexuality was the best choice overall, but the diagnosis remains on the books so medical institutions can continue to accept gender transition cases, and to mandate significant amounts of talk therapy before undergoing it (or deciding not to). The "delusional disorder" theory is old and discredited - being trans doesn't make people literally deranged.

It's that if we absolutely have to talk about this drama, it shouldn't devolve into calling people delusional and more likely to be sexual predators based on stereotypes of their gender, when we can just say no one should be mobbing on anybody. It was actually the other way around. JKR's position was that she wished to avoid sexual predators abusing her facilitieis by using the stereotypes of the gender to evade or lower penalties. At least during the time where she said it, that was a rising "inmate finding Jesus" moment that actually showed some influence over consequences. Maybe the statistics have balanced out now since a rise from low to high will always look tremendous.
A "recent" case in my local area where a few schools refused to report actual sexual abuse in their bathrooms (by the same student) because the student claimed to be a trangender person does exist. State is Pennsylvania. The district (I think it was that high) didn't want to jeopardize the shared bathroom system at all, so they covered it up and kept transfering the student from one school to the other, until the complaint by victims became too loud. While the former "hiding under gender dysphoria" is a negligent statistic, we do not wish for a repeat of the Catholic Church scandals where any real problems are secreted around and there's no internal call for responsibility where it is needed.
