Descended? I thought the Archons were supernatural beings born on Teyvat and were just given their Gnosis from the ACTUAL Gods of Celestia.

We're still in the dark about this, but it sounds like they were extraordinary (but normal) people who were invited to Celestia and bestowed their Gnosis.
Like how Kings used to invite noble heirs to the capital and officially bestow them their rank.

That makes sense. Though, I could've swore Venti and Zhongli were both magical creatures of some kind. Barbatos was some kind of wisp thing and Morax was a dragon.

That's taken into account.
Archon status aside, Barbatos had a huge role in whatever happened in Old Mondstat,
and Morax was the supreme leader of the Adepti.

(This is speculation)
Vision bearers gain their Vision after performing an action, whatever it may be...
If Zhongli and Venti took action in a way that anyone else would do, they would become Vision bearers like Xiao and Jean.
But those two probably did things that was impossible for anyone else.

Problem is that there are people who aren't human which may or may not even need vision to prove themselves. You probably didn't read their origins.
