It would not be redundant against a science user like Nitori since they could use a shield made of those tiles on the shuttle or the TPS off the Apollo CM to block master spark.
But said shield could still be damaged by good old fashion bullets.

Really if Nitori ever gets in the 2D fighters she should use such a shield for blocking.
