What I find interesting... is that of all the various original creations he has added throughout his version of the Touhou world, it's the twin horned dude that was at Patchy's lecture that he included here.
Well, him and Rumia's new parents but that whole side arc is so damn cute and sweet that it would have been criminal to leave them out.
I hope this got upadated soon...Hope to see other characters soon. I'm happy to see that Meiling have more dignity in this series instead being the usual butt-monkey..And the others are adorable too. Interestingly, he can put original characters in it without generating angry fans. Must be a good job.

Well, I also find that horned guy interesting... dunno why though..

It helps that his characters aren't generic obvious self-inserts. I mean, a 65+ year old postman? That's about as far away from generic as you can get. And everybody loves the guy (the cheering up sad girls with impressive tea-stunts is still one of my favorite pages).
Makes me curious what he's going to do with the horned guy.
I think part of how he does it is through mundane situations, rather than having epic danmaku battles, as well as having the Touhou characters fit into the world its self rather than standing out, and acting like normal people. The pages with Aya and the arranged marriage bit comes to mind.

That and they tend not to overshadow the established characters, who he in tun tends to make even more awesome than usual (Hi Meiling and Sakuya.). That seems to be the major thing that puts off fans besides the genericness is people making up characters that can blast Yukari into orbit without trying.
So, still no updates for this story? So what about utsusho appearence? pointless i guess? that ligthing on the mountain was just that and no real meaning? ><
For those who are interested in why these characters are in this picture, explation (also, links to all Gensoukomuten's other works): Gensoukoumuten has at least five other works on this site: -pool #2754 is a Sanae-focused one, about an about-to-be-decomissioned old train. Yes, really. -pool #1144 is a silent look at Moriya Shrine -pool #2837 focuses on Patchy and Sauro Dante (The horned doctor. The fact that a male Touhou fan-OC gets his own tag should tell you all you need to know about how awesome he is) -pool #3066 is about Dai, Keine, a dog, an OC and a flood. -pool #2202 is the "adopted Rumia" one.
This pic is pretty much all the main characters in his works together.

And to add on to this list
- pool #5523 is just starting and looks to focus on Alice
Basically, that's just what I do. Go to pools and search for pools with titles of a particular author. If I like an author's work, it's an hassle, but that's what I gotta do to find other works by that same author.
To everyone who came to meet me at Reitaisai, and to all the Touhou fans who have been watching over me on Pixiv, I extend my deepest and most heartfelt gratitude.Gensoukoumuten
