I think people can ship whatever they want, but they should acknowledge that 99% of time it's not canon, and telling people "She's actually a lesbian you homophobe!" and similar insults for not shipping the same thing is just being an obnoxious twat. Sadly vast majority of people shipping Lappland and Texas are absolutely this fanatical kind of people. Something I don't see from for example Texas with Exusiai fans or Doctor with... pretty much anyone fans...

Sadly, it's not exclusive to Genshin Impact or One Piece. I saw morons claiming that Aerith, the girl from Final Fantasy VII (remake), was "actually trans". The reason given? She didn't "act like a girl", wearing a choker, being actually active in the story, and beating motherfuckers with a folding chair. To this day, I still hope that Twitter post wasn't serious, because I only saw it once and it's still fresh in my mind, and is the main reason I dismiss claims about characters.

I don't care whom others ship with whom, and won't bother them about it.
But sometimes you find people that are arrogant enough to decide their ships are better than others for "fanon", "headcanon" or even "I only accept canon" situations and criticize and insult fans of other ships. Those ones appear in every community for any work, and man, are they entitled.

Actually, I wasn't thinking about it earlier, but is this the "truth?" Is it confirmed anywhere in official materials that either of them are explicitly straight? Do they ever show any sort of romantic or sexual interest in anyone of either sex? I'm assuming not, cause I feel like I would've heard about it, which in every possible way makes you just as bad as the people you're criticizing.

I don’t have perfect information retention for AK but as far as I remember Texas has never expressed physical attraction towards… anybody. Lappland is entirely driven by bloodlust -which isn’t the same as real lust but for many artists it’s close enough. The fact you assume I'm the person who starts these is pretty telling of your own bias, all I did here was expressing disappointment that popular artist would draw a ship with tendency to attract toxic individuals like that, as it reinforces the delusional people that demand others(And in extreme cases even developers themselves) to adhere to it. I've encountered frightening amount of people on multiple platforms absolutely convinced Lappland and Texas are a couple(Or ex-couple), citing arguments such as "The way Lappland talks about her sounds very queer." or "Official artist liked a picture of the ship on Twitter". And it often came up in relatively unrelated convos, since I was at the time using Lappland pfp, only for someone to suddenly go "Um, ackshually the girl in your pfp is a lesbian?"...
Yuri shippings, just like their more infamous yaoi counterparts are sadly very prone to fanaticism and toxicity, especially from supporters of most popular ships who feel powerful being in big group, and start to make demands from others. I never said every single person shipping Lappland and Texas is like that, just that it seems like there's a large number of such people focused around this particular one.

And well I'd say most recent event in global server is a pretty good proof they at the very least aren't interested in each other in that way and weren't in the past either. Lappland even when pretending to be nice is trying to provoke Texas into a fight, like by offering chocolate... only for Texas to find out it's her most hated flavor.

I have, and even that's pretty light when it comes to operators. Background NPCs like Alfonso and his First Mate are pretty unusual by all means.
