She probably *has,* but as she said, she couldn't bring herself to kill someone for it. It probably came up like "I wonder what could keep Akyuu alive longer" and then ran through a list a possibilties, ruling out several, one of them being mermaid flesh and the appropriate response to herself being "but I don't think I can live with myself for killing someone, let alone having the stomach to do it."
