Seeing a witch like shape that... bulbous for lack of a better term made me think it was Gruntilda from the thumbnail.

It's a bit of a let down it isn't.

バルサン(varsan) is a smoking type insectcide which is widely used in Japan.

Eh... most insecticides are slightly harmful to humans or not at all. This is going to be a painful and reaaaaly long death.

Just because you're a magician (and just with an acquired status at that) doesn't mean you don't suffer from the disadvantages of human body. Look at Patchouli and her anemia and asthma... and she's even a native magician. Youkai / magicians definitely can be killed, and can be killed by the same means as ordinary humans, they just can take much more of it.
