Several species of ants have a symbiotic relationship with aphids, essentially raising them as livestock. Aphids feed off of the sap within plants, and uh... sugary honeydew... Exits out the, um... Rear end... of the aphid, which ants feed off of.

They'll go to pretty long lengths to maintain their aphids, from moving them to better grazing areas or defending them from predators

I'm getting a really bad feeling about this.
Why do the ants look so nervous?
    Why is one crying?
WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO TO THEM?

They're moving the aphids so they can eat better, chill out.

Aphids benefit from being moved, but even then there are some that are still unproductive.

    Those get eaten.

Same as chickens that don't produce enough eggs.

As thanks for once again protecting them, the ants have received honeydew from the aphids.
It seems the quality of the honeydew has become poor.
