I've been feeling something off about Shirai Yu's art for the longest time, and it finally dawned on me why. This is almost entirely 3D rendered, isn't it? The only thing not obviously 3D is the face. It feels so obvious now looking through his older works, I don't know how I didn't pick up on it before.

Edited 3d can entirely look like 2d art if you don't pick up that subtle hints. For me it's the strangely detailed creases in the hakama.

Oh, it's not even subtle. The hands and feet are obvious giveaways, too. The clothing just entirely looks rendered, the creases just confirm it. It's honestly disappointing it took me so long to catch it.
