They are referencing 26:00 in military time, which isn't used casually that often in English speaking countries. It becomes 2 AM the next day here.

Not even sure how common it is in places outside of Japan. It is commonly used to refer to times technically on the next day but when you also want to relate it to the current day. For example, a TV schedule may list shows in a day during the hours 5:00 to 29:00, or a restaurant may list its opening hours as 6:00-25:00.
