Furret is an awesome Pokemon in-game wise. I used one during my first playthough in Gold and he/she wasn't regarded as a HM slave but part of my main team. I missed those days.

Normals can only be raped by Fighting moves; otherwise, they mostly just have no advantages, and there's so many Rock-types around...

normals have the advantage of learning a wide variety of tm moves. there are 5 normal types in OU/BL. that's more than bug, rock and fire

normals are great. very versatile.
furret has other issues. mostly having mediocre stats. it always came through for me when i needed it too, though. i went through this very same thing when it came time to use something else.

in any case, theres no such thing as "just a normal type"

Shoot, I kept Sentret in my party for the longest time solely because of the ability to use Foresight against them.

Linoone is way cooler anyway. Come back when you get Pickup, Furret!

Although, it's vice versa too.
Normal-type moves have no effect on Ghost-types too.

I just played through Pokemon Sun with a Snorlax welded to my first pokemon slot.

Amulet coin + Happy Hour = x4 money drops. (Yeah, sure, that doesn't help you win fights, but any win counts the same, and you only get one chance at most trainers to earn money, so...)

Hold Back for capturing anything but ghosts. (It was the special Munchlax from the promotion at the start of the game, so it starts with Hold Back.)

Body Slam killed more pokemon than all my other moves combined.

Lick for dealing with ghosts, originally, but when I needed a little more power late-game, I traded it in for High Horsepower, which devastates a fair range of pokemon.
