I can solve a normal cube in 30 seconds and I'm not even sure how you'd go about constructing one like that, let alone solve it.

Though actually, looking at the corner of the three sides you can see, it can't even turn alongside any of the new diagonals.

Not really, as you need to gather split squares as well, which means that you have extra work to do.

If you solve that thing Pinhead will appear.

this seems pretty impossible now, I have a hard enough time with a regular cube

I dunno... Somehow my brain keeps telling me that since it's still a cube, and you are still trying to achieve the same goal, it should be easier if you have more turning options.
